These are the results of the Greater Long Branch Chamber of Commerce Second Annual Chef’s Challenge Thursday night, April 28th at Ocean Place.
Our judges for the evening: Chris Brandl, Chef/Owner of Brandl. in Belmar, Debbie George, Food & Wine magazine, and Michael Sirianni, Principal Director for the Culinary Education Center, Asbury Park. The People’s Choice Award went to Matthew Zappoli, Chef/Owner of Tre Amici al piccolo forno for his Rice-crusted Frog Leg Croquette with kefir lime chili sauce.
The overall Judges award was Dominique Filoni, Chef at Avenue who prepared a savory seared Black Bass with Lemongrass & Ginger Fish Broth with Baby Bok Choi & Sesame Oil.
Adding to the excitenment and interest at the event was the competition between florists and designers for the winning tabletop descor. Meg Fox, Assistant Editor of Design NJ, was the designated judge to determine who had the most original and dramatic floral centerpiece. The winner was LARK Floral & Home for their Oriental-influenced centerpiece and table setting. The People’s Choice Award went to Flowers by Van Brunt, a green menagerie of hanging moss and green-tinted delphinium orchids.
